// ABOUT

Firstly, onlybadvisuals is a creative media agency built with a primary focus in photographics, design, and filmmaking practices. These are our core services, but we enjoy working across a wide range of creative disciplines. Whether it involves visual storytelling, branding, or artistic experimentation, we aim to bring fresh ideas and strong visuals to every project.

Secondly, we also publish a quarterly physical and digital collective artist magazine. Our zine features work from artists around the world and includes all kinds of mediums, from photography and illustration to digital art and mixed media. It gives us a space to celebrate creativity in all its forms and to support artists who are exploring new ideas.

Yet, most importantly, we can be whatever we want to be! We do not want to be limited to one path or one medium. Creativity changes over time, and we want the freedom to change with it. This mindset allows us to stay flexible, experiment often, and grow in directions that feel exciting and genuine.

So, why the name ‘onlybadvisuals’? Well our name is not a declaration of failure, but more so a meditation on transformation. What we call "bad" is simply the other side of change, a reminder that what is seen as "good" today may be viewed differently tomorrow as time reshapes our understanding of artistry.

We are still a young company, and we are continuing to shape our identity and goals. If you would like to follow our journey, the best place to see our latest work and updates is on our Instagram at @onlybadvisuals.

You can also stay connected through our newsletter and quarterly zine, which offer a closer look at what we are creating and the artists we highlight.

If you have a project, idea, or creative opportunity you want to explore with us, feel free to reach out. We are always open to new collaborations and conversations.

// SETH COPELA

// CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Kia Ora, I’m Seth, a visual storyteller currently based in Wellington, New Zealand. I work across a wide variety of industries and niches but most prominently across photography, design, and indie film.

In August 2025, I founded ONLYBADVISUALS as a vessel for creative liberation, a space to challenge convention and embrace imperfection as an essential part of artistic evolution. Beyond the creation process itself, I remain deeply committed to advocacy and authenticity, believing that every work of art carries the residue of lived experience and the quiet persistence of becoming.

// MY PAST & ETHOS

I was born in 2002 to a Ukrainian-Russian mother and a New Zealand father, growing up in the tension between contrast and identity. Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances in my early years, I ended up in foster care, an experience that has radically shaped my world view and ethos.

For most of my childhood I was disconnected, fractured in a sense, however I found my solace in creativity and art, especially within the photographic mediums, graphic design, and later on filmmaking.

My life has rarely been stable, and I’ve come to see that as a gift. Instability keeps art alive; it reminds me that creation thrives the most in motion, in times of uncertainty, and feeling. Everything I make is born from that ethos, imperfect, honest, and human.
